• The picture depicts a cheerful and colourful scene in nature. A child is joyfully walking near a shallow stream. There are so many beautiful flowers and plants. A butterfly is fluttering near him. Birds are flying and a squirrel is sitting on the branch of a tree. Insects like a dragonfly and a Grasshopper are also there. Fish are swimming in the stream. A frog is sitting near the stream. The boy looks happy and engaged, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world.

• Seeing this picture makes me feel a sense of peace and happiness. It reminds me of the simple joys that nature can bring.

Can we think of Nature as our friend? Why?
Yes, we can think of nature as our friend because it provides us with essential resources like air, water, food, and shelter. It offers beauty and inspiration, and spending time in nature can improve our mental and physical well-being. Just like a friend, nature supports and enriches our lives, and in return, it’s important for us to care for and protect it.

The creatures like squalling cats, squeaking mice, howling dogs, and bats like to spend time in the moonlight.

7. How long do the flowers and children sleep and take rest?
The flowers and children sleep and take rest till the morning when the sun rises.
Activity 1
Look at the words used to describe the sounds made by animals - the chirping birds, the trumpeting elephants.
There are similar words in the poem, that describe the sounds made by the animals.
Pick out those words and write them down.
