1.  All the lines in the pictures below are of  3 centimetres length. Draw and colour them:

Fig. (01) Method of drawing: Draw a line of 3 cm long. Place the square corner of the set square on one end of this line. Draw upward. Another line of 3 cm. Join these points by drawing a line.

• Fig. (02) Method of drawing: Draw a line of 3 cm long. Place the set square (1) at the left end so that the longer side is along the line and draw a line. Now slide the square to the right end and draw another line like this. Now, mark off 3 centimetres both the slanted lines and erase the rest of the lines. Draw a line joining these
two ends.

• Fig. (03) Method of drawing: Draw a line of 3 cm long. Place the set square (1) at the left end so that the longer side is along the line and draw a line. Now slide the square to the right end and draw another line like this. Now, mark off 3 centimetres both the slanted lines and erase the rest of the lines. Draw a line joining these two ends.

Fig. (04) Method of drawing: Draw a line of 3 cm long. Place the set square (2) at the left end and draw a line. Now slide the square to the right end and draw another line like this. Now, mark off 3 centimetres both the slanted lines and erase the rest of the lines. Draw a line joining these two ends.

• Fig. (05) Method of drawing: Draw a line 3 cm long. Draw two slanted lines using the same corner of sets square (1) at both end points. After drawing the slanted line at one end point, turn the set square.

2. Draw the first picture with lengths as shown and then colour it as in the second picture.
Draw a rectangle of sides 5 cm and 3 cm. On the upper side, draw two slanted lines (with equal slant) of length 2 cm. Join the end points of the started lines. Now, at the right bottom corner of the rectangle draw another slanted line (with same start) of length 2 cm Join this point with the end point of the slanted line at the top right corner. Now you can colour it.

3.  Draw this picture.
Using the methods used in figures (01), (02) and (04) in Question 1, we can draw this figure. Here all the sides (vertical and slant) are of the same length. Colour it.
♦ Try drawing the pictures below.
•
Fig. (01) Method of drawing:
First, draw a square with suitable measures. Now mark the midpoint of the sides using a scale. With each corner of the square as centre, half the length of one side of the square as radius, draw circles. Now erase the parts outside the square and colour the picture.

• Fig. (02) Method of drawing: Draw a square with a suitable measure. Mark the midpoints of the sides. Join these points in order. We will get a new square. Now join the opposite corners of the new square. These lines meet at a point. This point will be the centre of the circle. With this point as centre and radius equal to the distance from the centre to the midpoint of a side, draw a circle. Now shade the required portions.

• Fig. (03) Method of drawing: Draw a line. Draw circles with the end points of the line as the centres, with the length of this line as the radius. Extend the line to the right till it meets the circle on the right. With this point as centre, draw another circle of the same radius. Now we will get 6 points at which the 4 points touch the middle circle with the other circles and the centres of the other circles. Join the 6 points in the middle circle alternately. Now join these six points in order and erase the remaining circle parts. Shade the portions according to the given picture.

• Fig. (03) Method of drawing: Draw a line and mark 5 points on it at equal distances. Now, with the midpoint as centre, draw a circle passing through the end points as shown in the picture. Now, with the second point as centre, draw a circle. Passing through the first and third points as shown in the picture. Similarly, with the 4th point as centre, draw a circle passing through the 3rd and 5th points. Erase the lower part of the second and the upper part of the third circle.
