♦ LibreOffice Calc
LibreOffice Calc is a Spreadsheet software. It is used for
• Tabulating data
• Arranging the tabulated data in different formats
• Enabling the analysis, comparison and consolidation of the data.
• Arranging the data in graphic forms (charts) to make analysis easier.
♦ To open LibreOffice Calc
To open LibreOffice Calc - Applications → Office → LibreOffice Calc
Columns are labelled A, B, C … and rows 1, 2, 3 … The squares you fill in with data are called cells.
♦ Recording Data in Calc
• Collect data
• Click the mouse in the cell
• Type in data with the keyboard
• Name the file appropriately and save it.
♦ To Change the Size of Columns and Rows
Click on the point where the header of the column we want to change and the next column’s header joins. When the arrow marks appear, drag them to get the size we want. In the same way, we can change the size of the rows.
♦ Finding the ‘Sum’ in the Cells
• Click in the cell where we want to display the sum.
• Click on the symbol ∑ to the left of the cell address.
• Press the Enter key to get the sum in the cell into which we typed.
• Save the file after those changes.
♦ Sorting the Tables in the Calc Sheet
• Select the table to be sorted.
• Click on Data on the Menu bar and select Sort.
• Select the header of the column you want to sort to put it in Sort Key 1.
• Select Descending from Ascending/Descending options against Sort Key 1
• Press ‘OK’
♦ Graphs for Comparative Study.
To prepare a graph
• Select the portion for the graph
• Choose the chart option from the insert menu of the calc sheet.
• On the left of the window, we can see the Chart Type selected.
• Go to Choose a Chart Type; we can see Column selected.
• Click the finish button
