(1) Write the reasons for postural deformity and how it can be prevented?
Reason:
The main reason for postural deformities is the deviation from keeping a good posture. Other reasons for this are incorrect standing, walking, sitting, accidents, diseases, etc.
Preventive measures: While standing, keep both feet firmly on ground. When sitting, keep your spine straight and sit without bending. Walking in a way that your feet properly touch the ground, etc., can help to correct physical posture deformities.
(2) Write two advantages/uses of a good posture.
• Improves the aesthetics of the body.
• Achieves body balance, confidence, concentration and energy levels.
(3) Write three corrective measures for bad posture.
• Create awareness about the benefits of good posture.
• Make a balanced diet a habit.
• Engage in regular exercise that improves muscular strength.
• Engage in physical activities that improve strength and flexibility.
♦ Write down the stages of vrikshasana, ardhashalabhasana, pashchimothanasana and ardha halasana.
♦ Vrikshasana
• Stage 1
Stand with arms and legs together, keeping spine erect.
• Stage 2
Place the flexed right leg on the left upper thigh, with the help of the right hand.
• Stage 3
Breathe in, raise the arms sideways overhead and hold the palms together,
with fingers pointing upward.
• Stage 4
Breathe out, lower the arms back to the starting position.
♦ Ardhashalabhasana
• Stage 1
Prone lying position. Hands close to the body with the chin pressed onto the floor.
• Stage 2
Breathe in, raise the right leg without bending the knee, with the chin pressed onto the floor. Hold this position for as much time as you can do it comfortably. Repeat this using the other leg.
• Stage 3
Breathe out, lowering the raised leg slowly.
♦ Pashchimothanasana
• Stage 1
Sit with legs stretched, hands placed on both sides of the body and spine straight.
• Stage 2
Breathe in and raise the two arms overhead with palms facing forward. The body should be slightly bent forward.
• Stage 3
Breathe out, bend the body from the hip forward without bending the knee and try to grasp the big toes and make the forehead touch the knees. Place the elbows on both sides of the legs and hold the position for as long as you can do it comfortably.
• Stage 4
Breathe in, raise the arms overhead and sit straight.
• Stage 5
Breathe out and come back to the starting position.
♦ Ardha halasana
• Stage 1
Lie flat on the ground. Keep legs together and straight. Place your arms down close to the body.
• Stage 2
Breathing in, point the foot forward and slowly raise the legs up to 90° without bending the knees. Stay in this position as long as you are comfortable.
• Stage 3
Breathing out, lower the leg back to the starting position.
