How Far is the River? - Textual Questions and Answers & Model Questions

* Summary of the lesson
How far is the river describes a strong desire of a young boy who wants to see the river? He had heard about the river from the village people. So he decided to go there. His house was on the hill opposite the mountain.
He knows that it is difficult to go there because there was a steep and confusing way to reach there. However, he wanted to go there. It was
beyond a mountain.
One day he got an opportunity to go to the river. His parents were out in order to visit their relatives far from home. They would come back only in the late evening. He wanted to utilize this time to fulfil his cherished dream. He thought that it was a suitable time to see the river.  He took a  loaf of bread from the house and set out. He started his journey and continued through the steep path around the mountain which was
frequently used by the woodcutters, milkmen, mule drivers etc.
The path was sloppy up to the valley. It was dark and cloudy. He met the woodcutter and he told the boy that it was far away from here. But he continued his journey and did not listen to his words. His attempt to discourage the boy was a failure. There were all kinds of plants on the way. At last, he reached the valley after a long walk. He met a girl and asked her how far the river was. She told him to go ahead and twenty
miles more.
He was glad to see a boy and shared the bread which he had brought with him. He told him the river was not far away from here. His words consoled his mind and it revived his hope of finding the river. After some time he was lost somewhere. Unfortunately, he was alone but he continued his journey.   At last, he reached the spot. He could not hide the joy and pleasure when he saw the river. The river was flowing land down over the rocks. His ardent dream was fulfilled. The story has been a symbolic level of another meaning. Now the man is far away from the lap of nature.

I am alone here. I don’t see the village boy here. He was with me for some time. I feel restless and a little bit confused. I don’t know how to go to the river. I can’t see the river nearby. My hope of finding the river has been dashed. I can’t see my house from here. It is opposite the mountain.  I don’t see anyone guide me properly. 26. Imagine you are going on a nature walk with your teacher. How would that experience be?  Write a paragraph about it?
We had a wonderful trip to the forest with our teacher last week.  Forest
is a great blessing of nature. It was a well planned and exciting trip.  We
were going first time on that type of trip.  It was our intense desire to go and see the forest.   We started early in the fresh morning. The sun was bright and it was a pleasant morning. We had to walk kilometres through the dusty road. It was an interesting activity to go with our friends. We were enjoying each step. After a long walk, we reached there.  We never felt that we had reached the forest. It was a dense forest. Huge trees, rare timber,  birds, wild animals and a variety of flowers welcomed us. It was a
spectacular sight to see the forest with a variety of environments and its peculiar weather condition. The chirping of birds, the humming of bees,
the roaring of lions and the trumpeting of elephants were glad to hear in the forest. Their swift movement even scared us.  It was frightening to see
them from a long distance.  We put each step cautiously. We don’t want to break the silence of the forest. Our teacher gave us each instruction clearly. We followed her words strictly. Our hearts and minds filled with the enchanting sights sound and smells of the forest.   There were a large number of deer, lions, tigers and wild boars who were passing gently in the forest in search of their prey. Really it was an amazing sight to see them in the forest. It was surprising to see a lot of medical plants there. We plucked hurriedly and brought it home. Our teacher told us the value of it. The gentle breeze in the forest took us to another world. We never enjoyed such soothing wind in our life.  There was a stream flowing there. We drank water to our heart’s content.  It was fresh and cool water. We ate the packet that we brought with us. Because we were tired after a long walk.
It was astonishing to see the Adivasi tribe there. They were living near their agricultural land by hunting animals. We went to see their hut but they looked at us strangely. They don’t like to mingle with us. It was a
thrilling experience to know more about their simple life.  We returned
home with a lot of fond memories.
