Answer:  The people elect their representatives to govern at various
levels, from the local level to the Parliament. Any citizen attain the age of 18 years has the right to vote in elections. The representatives to Local Self Governments, State Legislative Assemblies and Lok Sabha are elected through voting.  Election is a basic feature of democracy.

14. What is the full form of RTE?
Answer: The full form of RTE is the Right to education.

15. Who is a Voter?
Answer: Any citizen attain the age of 18 years has the right to vote in elections. Such persons are called voters.

Election – Election is an inevitable part of democracy. The people elect their representative government at various levels from local to the parliament.
The rule of Law – All are equal before the law. Nobody is above the law. Such as the Right to Education Act, Traffic Laws, Right to information act, and Senior citizen Act.
Rights – Rights are granted to the citizens for the progress of individuals and the country.
Social and economic justice – Ensuring equal treatment for all his minimizing social and economic inequalities is the principle behind the idea of social and economic justice.
Mass Media – Mass media is important and helps in informing the public about events happening in society. Impartial media are the foundation of democracy.
Opposition – Election creates both ruling and opposition parties. It is the duty of the opposition to persuade the government to function better and indicate the wrongs of the govt.

An individual has the right to agree or disagree with the opinion of others. Democracy becomes meaningful when we are able to form collective decisions. We should be able to adopt the democratic way of life at home, in school and in society.
